On a night full of rivalry contests, three of the four went down to the wire in one-goal or tiebreaker decisions. Mead nipped Mt Spokane on a last-minute strike, one goal gave Central Valley a win against University and a shootout was needed in a dramatic contest between Shadle Park and North Central.

Round-up of the action/standings for October 4

Greater Spokane League

Mt Spokane 1-2 Mead
Olivia DeShazo connected with Sarah Frahm in the 34th to give the Panthers the initial lead in the first half, but Amber Hickman pulled the Wildcats level with 15 minutes remaining as Mt Spokane was looking to add another upset of a 4A opponent this season to the ledger for the 3A schools. It looked like they were headed to overtime when Frahm placed a perfect shot in under the bar with just seconds left for the win.

Ferris 1-4 Lewis & Clark
Carolyn Moravec led the Tigers past the Saxons in the South Hill showdown. She put them in front just four minutes into the first half and later doubled the lead nine minutes into the second half. The goal was set up by Paige Malm, who tallied just a minute later courtesy of Camryn Gardner. Moravec completed a hat-trick in the 67th to lock up the result, though Katie Uphus spoiled the Tigers' bid for a shutout.

Central Valley 1-0 University
A goal from Anna Hilbert off a Madylyn Simmelink cross at the hour mark was the difference in the battle for the Muddy Cleat. AJ Crooks made six stops for her second shutout of the season.

Gonzaga Prep 7-0 Rogers

Shadle Park 2-1 SO North Central
The rivals squared off in an evening contest at Joe Albi Stadium in a wild back-and-forth affair. Cydni Marshall put North Central in front in the first half off a ball from Katelyn Tibbetts seven minutes before the break. Moments after a goal-line save from a defender on a corner, a rare spilled ball from keeper Payton Flannery allowed Briona Epefanio to put things level for the Highlanders in the 51st minute. Both sides had chances for the winner the rest of the way, but things remained deadlocked with Flannery and Hannah Johnson stopping the opportunities, sending the match to a tiebreaker. Both sides missed the target in the third round before Johnson made a save on a shot down the middle in the fifth, allowing Olivia Wicks to convert with the final shot for the 4-3 shootout victory.
