INW HS Best XI - Week 7: Kamiakin, Hanford Defense Stands Strong

In a week in which several of the top teams clashed over the course of three match days, a number of standout performances stood out, chief among them being the work put forth by the defensive units from Hanford and Kamiakin that led both the Falcons and Braves to a pair of wins earlier in the week before the two squared off in a scoreless stalemate on Saturday.

After a relatively easy campaign behind a great offense that allowed her to register four shutouts, Kamiakin's Grace Wilbur faced her first big test of the season with games against red-hot Chiawana - the second highest scoring team - and second-place Richland on Tuesday and Thursday. If that was not enough, the Braves had to finish the week against the league's second best defense when Hanford visited. She allowed just one goal on the week as they topped Chiawana 3-1, edged Richland in a narrow 1-0 decision and went the distance, claiming a shootout in after a scoreless draw versus the Falcons.

For games through Saturday, October 14

G - Gabby Turner (Hanford, Sr) ::  After a pair of shutout wins against Southridge and Kennewick, 2-0 and 3-0, during the week she made an amazing 23 saves as the Falcons became the first team to shutout perfect league leader Kamiakin in a scoreless draw before falling in a shootout.
